Chanel

This display is just fantastic. I tend to be more attracted to the simple and understated, but this just works. The chanel letters are just so extravagant and elegant. Chanel has always been a very classy fashion line and the use of pearls emphasize that, they also make this display very feminine. The letters are a clear focal point as you eyes go immediately to them, however the organized chaos of the pearls and the way they drape down from the letters draw your eyes around the rest of the window as well. The models or mannequins are also very understated, however they complement one another. The display has a nice balance, and the use of black and white gives this display a vintage feel and almost takes you back to the Breakfast at Tiffany's days.

Papyrus Display

"Papyrus Window Display" by: Sonny Abesamis is licensed under CC by 2.0

The first word that comes to mind when I see this display is dainty, and also whimsical. It is very much like a fairytale. It has imagination and flows across the window. The composition is very well done with the flower decorations taking your eye across the space. It is quite fitting for a store that sells different kinds of paper and stationary. When you buy stationary it is to write letters and this is usually a very intimate, yet playful act. The color combination is quite beautiful, very pale/earthly colors. The tutu is an interesting addition. I like the way it goes with the colors of the flowers, but not sure the subject matter is completely fitting. It is whimsical, yet what would you do with it?

I work at a Country Club and have recently been assisting with some of the displays throughout the Golf Pro shop. This is a display I was working on with another employee. Some of the things we were thinking about when putting this together were levels and the overall balance and composition of the space. There is a lower level with a variety of both product and other objects to enhance the overall experience of the sapce, and then the golf bags serve as a mid level, while the mannequin and clothing racks bring your eye upwards as well. All of the items are spaced out in such a way that there is a lot to see without it looking cluttered. All of the clothing are uniform in brand, all of the shirts and jackets displayed are Polo brand and there is a logo sign in the middle of the display as well. Each of the little knick knacks displayed to give an old world travel feel, but in a golf clubway. We have the little trunk with an old map on it flanked by two bronze goose heads, which is suggestive of both travel and a hunt or golf club. There are also two old croquet mallets in which is reminiscent of the golf game and the worn look give them some character. Then there is the old travel bag which displays some shirts, and a few old golf books which display a logoed towel. All of these items serve to assist in the experience of the display. To make you feel like you could wear these clothes and travel the world doing it, in old timey golf clubs.

Circus

I have a tendancy to be attracted to the more fun and whimsical displays and Louis Vuitton does just that with these circus window displays. It's fun to see a little bit of the behind the scenes to see just how much work goes into crafting these displays. I think the best part about these displays is how well they show off the product. In each display they find a way to subtly make the produtc the focal point, and keep it interesting with the circus theme at the same time. Such as with the diplay with the elephant balancing with the handbag. Since the elephant blends with the background and it is also tilting towards the handbag your eye is drawn to it. There is also the one where the trapeze artist is hanging upside down almost gesturing to the handbag below her. Also the one with the seal balancing the handbags on his nose, your eye goes directly up the line of handbags. Besides the great use of focal point, the circus is also relatable. Everyone has been to the circus at one point or another and find some amusment and feeling of fun in it.
